Camping Gear for Summer in Central Oregon
The sun is out, the weather is sublime, and Bendites are ready for camping season. Central Oregon is in full swing this time of year. There are so many places we’d like to explore! But first, we have to gear up. Here’s some of the camping gear we’re stocking up on for the adventures ahead.
Camping Gear
Whether you plan to play in the mountains, forests, or streams, here are the essentials you need to spend a night out under the stars:
Tent: Dick’s Sporting Goods is currently offering up to 50% off select camping gear in-stores. Whether you need a two-person or a four-person model, The North Face, Columbia, and Coleman all have amazing tents right now regardless of your needs.
Sleeping bag: Now that you have a place to sleep, you probably need something to sleep in. That’s where the classic sleeping bag comes in. Dick’s Sporting Goods has some of those too. If you opted for an air mattress over a Thermarest, they’ve got all the bedding for that as well.
Hydro Flask: Whether you need to keep your coffee warm or your beer cool, Hydro Flask is the best way to go. This iconic Bend native is also available at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
River & Lake Gear
Since the Deschutes is only minutes away, you’re going to need some floating essentials. Whether out rafting the Deschutes, or downtown floating the White Water Park, here’s what you’ll need:
Kayak: For one or for two, a kayak (or even a canoe) would be a fun investment for the many rivers and lakes of Central Oregon. Dick’s Sporting Goods offers all of the above. Just stop on by to talk with one of their specialists on the ride meant for you.
Paddleboard: If you happened to catch Bend’s recent PaddleBoard Challenge you might be ready to get in on the action. Invest in a stand-up paddleboard and an oar (both available at Dick’s Sporting Goods) and head to the lake for this meditative sport.
Boardshorts: Absolutely a must for all of the above activities, grab a pair of boardshorts while you’re at Cascade Village. Ross, JCPenney, and Lane Bryant all have swimwear collections right now.
Summer Wardrobe
Camp clothing: The name of the game when it comes to summer camping clothing is wickability. It’s the only way we can escape the sun unscathed. Dick Sporting Goods has everything you need to keep cool in the great outdoors.
Day wear: Perfect for the Sunday picnic, or a visit to the breweries, grab your tee-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops at Ross, Lane Bryant, JCPenney, and Famous Footwear.
Wedding wear: Stop by Men’s Warehouse which has everything you might need for the busy wedding season.
And there you have it: all the basics you need for summer success. Stop by Cascade Village Shopping Center to get it all in one stop. Happy adventuring!
