Top 5 Summer Foods to Try at Trader Joe’s

Posted by Cascade Village

There’s something about summertime that makes food taste better. Classics like peaches, cherries, corn, and rhubarb are in season during the summer. Which is why they’ve become flavors synonymous with the season. Other favorites like burgers, hotdogs, shish kabobs, s’mores, and cobblers might not need a season, but they feel like summer. At Trader Joe’s, they pull out all the stops for summertime, and 2020 is no different. Here are our top five foods to try picks:

Pick 1: Mango and cream bars

These TJ treats are only around in the hotter months and play on the classic mango and sticky rice Thai flavor. These gluten-free and kosher popsicles are a grown-up version of orange creamsicles. With mango sorbet and sweet cream, the Mango and Cream Bars balance into a perfect dessert.

Pick 2: Dill pickle hummus and popcorn

Pickles aren’t only a burger’s best friend. They’re also a TJ’s classic summer flavor to play with. This year the newcomer is Dill Pickle Hummus, a vinegary and salty upgrade to traditional hummus. Perfect for dipping everything from chips to veggies, or even your burger. If you love pickles, another of TJ’s foods to try is their Pickle Popcorn. It’s a bold and tangy popcorn that “pairs nicely with a summer Rosé.”

Pick 3: Jicama wraps

Another newcomer this year are the low-carb Jicama Wraps. These thinly-sliced root vegetables are slightly crunchy and mild, low-carb alternatives to traditional tortillas. They’re also a great way to sneak veggies into your kids’ diets.

Pick 4: Cold-pressed or sparkling watermelon juice

What’s summer without watermelon? And, if you know Trader Joe’s, you know they love a good watermelon-flavored anything. Their Cold-Pressed Watermelon Juice “is a recurring summer favorite.” It’s refreshing, simple, and made of a 100% fruit blend. If you’re into sparkling water and want a lighter version, their Sparkling Watermelon Juice is another great option (and delicious as a cocktail mixer).

Pick 5: Tomato ketchup with black summer truffle

Lastly, what’s a good french fry without an out-of-this-world dipping sauce? TJ’s new Tomato Ketchup with Black Summer Truffle balances the classic subtle sweetness with rich truffle. Now imagine it with truffle fries.

Try it all at Trader Joe’s

It’s hard to pick just five summer foods to try at Trader Joe’s. If you need more inspiration for the upcoming summer picnics and (socially-distanced) events, head to TJ’s at the CVSC and stroll through their well-stocked aisles.
